The Illawarra Leg Ulcer Clinic (ILUC) is a partnership between IDGP and SESIAHS and provides a specialist clinic for the management and treatment of leg ulcers. The clinic operates from the Out-Patient Unit at Port Kembla Hospital every Friday fortnight. The enthusiastic work of Dr Chris Chin, Dr David Grant, Dr Fiona Williams, Dr Ananth Rao, Dr John McAlpine and Dr Brian Cox along with the Southern Health Network (SHN) community health nurses makes the clinic a success in improving ulcer healing time for patients. Outcomes from the clinic also include enhancing access for patients to specialist GPs and physicians with experience in the treatment of wounds.

A formal evaluation of the clinic was conducted in 2003 by the Centre for Equity and Primary Health Research in Illawarra and Shoalhaven. This report can be viewed at our publications section.
