How information is managed by TAADIS
TAADIS is an information management program that provides a framework for diabetes management. The Division recognises 5 levels of a hierarchy of information management:
Notification
Notification is the process whereby the act of data collection is recognised. In TAADIS, diabetes results from consenting patients are transferred from GPs' computers to a secure database at the Division. This event is related to other events such as the planned timing of data transfer and the fact that the GP has requested (and therefore received) the information.

Replication
This is a low level of information useage in that information is merely replicated somewhere else. In this sense TAADIS works as an electronic health record, allowing patients, allied health providers and GPs to view patient records using the internet. Access is password protected.

Aggregation
At this level data are manipulated beyond replication. Data thus used can portray a “snapshot” at a single point of time or, more meaningfully, can be related temporally to other data to form a timeline. The intelligence at this level is the identification and matching of data elements and their aggregation within meaningful time periods. With TAADIS, patient diabetes results are aggregated to reveal trends in results from individuals and from groups of patients.

Analysis
Information gathered can be used to develop programs that target groups of patients with poorer health

Reporting
The information analysed is de-identified and reports provided to GPs, Division management and health planners.
