The winners of the 2009 Illawarra Family Doctor Awards were announced at last night's Annual General Meeting of the Illawarra Division of General Practice.

Dr Sajid Azam from Bellambi is the 2009 Illawarra GP of the Year, with Dr Jenny Smiley receiving an exceptional mention.

Fairy Meadow Medical Centre received the nod as the 2009 Illawarra Practice of the Year.
