PRIME and WAVE FM

The Illawarra Division of General Practice along with PRIME TV and Wave FM is continually working to support and promote community access to general practice and the promotion of important health messages. This mutually beneficial partnership was recognised nationally when we were awarded the Prime Minister's National Award for Excellence in Small Business in 2005.

PRIME and WAVE FM also part of the headspace Illawarra consortium, a community of youth service providers committed to working with each other and the community, so that young people aged 12-25 and their families will have access to a high quality integrated service system that is proactive in identifying, preventing and treating the mental health issues of young people

During 2007 to 2009 the focus for the Community Service Announcements (CSA) to be aired on Prime TV and Wave FM was focused on Youth Health topics. Click on the following link to view and listen to the latest CSAs.

Graduate School of Medicine, University of Wollongong

The IDGP has worked in collaboration with University of Wollongong's Graduate School of Medicine with the primary intent of developing quality, clinical placements in the geographical area served by IDGP. The IDGP was involved initially in determining GPs' willingness to supervise medical students from the GSM and profiling the capacity of these general practices to support student placements for Phase 1 and Phase 3 of the Graduate School curriculum. 

Lifeline SouthCoast

Illawarra Division of General Practice and Lifeline South Coast formed a partnership in 2007 to work together in the provision of clinical psychology services, increasing services to the community and bringing mutual support and synergy to the respective organizations. The IDGP has worked with Lifeline South Coast over the last 6 years to address help-seeking in schools and more recently as a consortium partner of headspace Illawarra.

Illawarra Institute for Mental Health (iiMH), University of Wollongong

The IDGP and iiMH have worked collaboratively over the last 9 years, developing programs and undertaking research and evaluation in the area of mental health. The IDGP and iiMH have worked together to develop and evaluate GPs in Schools and Building Bridges to General Practice program, led by Dr Coralie Wilson and Prof Frank Deane. The IDGP have also worked collaboratively with the iiMH on GP education in dual diagnosis, comorbidity and on the development of a research and evaluation tool for divisions of general practice.

Headspace, National Youth Mental Health Foundation

headspace Illawarra is an initiative of headspace:  The National Youth Mental Health Foundation.  The Foundation is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing under the Promoting Better Mental Health Program.

NSW Department of Education and Training and Local Schools

IDGP and headspace Illawarra work collaboratively with DET and local schools to deliver education and training to students, parents, teachers and counsellors.

The IDGP works with RACFs to improve access to allied health care for residents

South East Sydney Illawarra Area Health Service

In conjunction with South East Sydney Illawarra Area Health Services, the Illawarra Division runs an integrated primary health care service that  aims to integrate referral pathways for patients with respiratory diseases, diabetes and mental health disorders.

The IDGP works with the NPS to delviery evidence based education to local GPs on the Quality Use of Medicines 

Pharmacy Guild

The IDGP works the the Pharmacy Guild support GPs and Pharmacies to implement Home Medicine Reviews in patients homes

The IDGP is part of the Australian General Practice Network, a national organisation representing 110 Divisions and 8 state based organisations.
